EarthCraft Multifamily Technical Advisory Services

Synergy Custom Services specializes in providing both EarthCraft Technical Advisory and National Green Building Standard Verification services for new construction and renovations of affordable housing in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina.

Our certification services help affordable housing projects meet the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, resulting in long-term cost savings and environmental benefits.

The EarthCraft program was developed in 1999 by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface Energy Institute.

EarthCraft, a green building standard in the Southeast, offers a blend of building science and regional expertise that leads to the creation of beautifully designed and renovated homes, apartment complexes, buildings, and communities. The EarthCraft program offers six different programs, including EarthCraft House, EarthCraft House Renovation, EarthCraft Multifamily, EarthCraft Multifamily Renovation, EarthCraft Communities, and EarthCraft Light Commercial.

Each EarthCraft program is specialized to meet specific needs in the construction and energy efficiency communities. In 2004, the program expanded to produce the first multifamily-specific green building program in the nation, known as EarthCraft Multifamily (ECMF). ECMF continues to maintain a strong focus on energy and resource efficiency, comfort, and sustainability. This program covers new construction, renovation, gut-rehabilitations, and adaptive reuse, ensuring that a variety of projects can benefit from its standards and guidelines.

Synergy Custom Services has been specializing in the EarthCraft Multifamily and Multifamily Renovation programs in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina since 2012. The company's founder, Ed Foskey, has been involved with the EarthCraft Multifamily program since 2010. As of April 2023, Synergy has assisted in the certification of over 100 multifamily projects, comprising almost 6,000 residential units. With this extensive experience, Synergy is well-equipped to help owners, developers, and builders create sustainable and energy-efficient multifamily projects.

As EarthCraft Technical Advisor, Synergy's role is to assist the owner/developer, general contractor, and all sub-contractors in ensuring that the project meets or exceeds the program's standards and goals. This includes plan review, energy modeling, and a minimum of three inspections per apartment unit to verify compliance with all parts of the certification process. Ultimately, the EarthCraft Technical Advisor's job is to ensure that the project is a success.

Builders, industry professionals, and owners looking to build a new multifamily project in Georgia should consider the EarthCraft program. This program is well-suited for the affordable housing market as it provides owners with a property designed for longevity and lower maintenance. Additionally, it provides residents with affordable utilities in a comfortable apartment home.

To begin the process, call or email and Synergy Custom Services will take it from there.
